Software development is my job, but technology in general is my hobby, I am fascinated by the cutting edge of whats possible. I also balance this with spending time with my friends however.

About Me

I am an apprentice software developer, completing a three year course. By the end I will be a Junior Software Developer working in the finance industry. I am passionate about technology and enjoy programming. Most people look at a computer and ask what it can do, I look at a computer and ask "What can I make this do?"

I have also built computers, and also have experience editing videos in Davinci Resolve and editing pictures in Lightroom. I am fascinated by IoT and will try and automate as much stuff as I can, just to see if I can. I like projects that allow me to be a little creative.

Java Development

I have been a full time java developer since September 2019 so I have a good understanding of the language and many of the common libraries used.

Python Development

Python was the first language I learnt back in 2013 and have stuck with it for a lot of my personal projects. I have a good understanding of it and enjoy using it for smaller, quick projects.

Databases

I have experience in using MySQL databases. I have also set up and maintained PostgreSQL databases before, and have linked them to web-hosted Java projects.

Jenkins and OpenShift

I am used to building images using Jenkins and deploying projects to OpenShift.

My Skills

Java is my main language, however I also know Python to a good standard and have done small amounts of C# and C++. I have also done some web development as it has been necessary for other projects. I am used to working in an Agile team in a sprint based development system. I have set up and used databases in many projects I have worked on, some of these were MySQL and some were PostgreSQL. I am also used to using both SOAP and REST endpoints, and have also recently started using GraphQL to make requests. I used Jenkins to build images for applications and deploy them via openshift. Many applications I work on are using Spring Boot or Quarkus.
